Alburnett, Iowa, is ideally located in Linn
County, just minutes away from Cedar Rapids and Interstate 380 (the Avenue of
the Saint's). Alburnett is a growing community in the area,
but there is always room for more people interested in the joys of "small town"
life with "big city" convenience!
Alburnett was founded in the late 1870's as a
local trading community and rail stop. Named after Albert C. Burnett, a local
businessman, Alburnett continues this tradition by offering several local
businesses, restaurants, and services.
Alburnett can boast an excellent local school system; the Alburnett School
District has elementary and secondary schools located in the community, and is
regularly recognized as a small school district with many quality academic and
extra-curricular programs.
In the Alburnett area there are State
and County parks and recreational facilities, including the Cedar Valley Nature
Trail, that offer a variety of outdoor activities.
Public and private utilities in Alburnett are
first-rate, while municipal taxes remain some of the lowest in the County.
Alburnett has many ideal locations for new housing construction, and has
recently taken steps to promote new opportunities for housing in the City.
Come visit in Alburnett to shop, dine, to
attend one of our two lovely churches, or simply to look around. You are always
welcome to attend one of community festivals, such as the Children's Benefit
Day, held the first Saturday of August each year. Whenever you come you'll
meet friendly people who can tell you why they love Alburnett.
