INTENT TO APPOINT To the Electors of the City of
You are hereby notified that the City Council of the City of has received and accepted the resignation of Julie Towe as Council Member of the City of Alburnett, Iowa effective January 30th 2008.
You are further notified that pursuant to Section 372.13 of the Code of
Iowa, the Council has elected to fill the vacancy by appointment.
To be eligible for consideration for appointment
Code of Iowa Section 39.27 requires that
the candidate be an eligible elector and a resident of the city or ward for
which the person seeks to represent. Persons interested in appointment to the
vacancy must submit a letter of intent to the City Clerk at Alburnett City Hall,
103 N Ma no later than February 26th 2008 by 4:00 P.M.
An outline for this letter is available at the Clerk’s office. The electors of the City have the right to file a petition requiring that the vacancy be filled by a special election. The appointments shall be for the period until the next pending election, as defined by Section 69.12 of the Code of Action concerning the appointment will be taken on February 28th 2008 @ 6:00 P.M. at the Alburnett Fire Station, 120 N Main Avenue. This is subject to change due to lack of a quorum, cancellation or rescheduling. If this meeting does not take place as currently scheduled, action concerning the appointment will be taken at a special meeting with the date to be posted. City Clerk/Treasurer

The Alburnett City Council met in regular
session January 14, 2008, at 7:00 P.M. at the
Alburnett Fire Station Office.
Mayor Pearson called the meeting to order
with Council Members Towe, Trumm, Titler and Boesenberg present.
Wood was absent. Boesenberg moved, Titler
seconded to approve the agenda. 4-0 Deputy Garron with Linn
County Sheriff presented the Council with the monthly report.
Mayor Pearson stated that he had received a few calls regarding snowmobilers and
he wanted to address the recent problems with snowmobilers not staying on the
specified route and riding on the sidewalks.
Mr. Mendieta with the Frozen Few snowmobile club approached Mayor Pearson
with a proposed solution which he explained as follows: Identifying the desired

Maintenance- moved a lot of snow, the dump truck needs a new hoist pump which is
around $500.00 and the linkage will need to be modified.
Steve will be in wastewater classes Jan 15, 16, 22 & 23. Ron Hoover - Fire Chief - 5
calls for the month of December, the grant is almost complete then report will
be submitted to FEMA stating where were at in the process, an architect is
working on the plans for the new fire station with goal of moving forward with
bids by the end of 2008, building in summer/fall lastly having the building
available in the spring of 2009. A resident requested the
city maintain the alley off of The ordinance dealing with
animals was talked about and there was discussion on rewriting the ordinance to
clarify what animals are not allowed.
Towe moved, Boesenberg seconded to address the ordinance and add domestic
fowl. 4-0. Website software will be on
the February agenda. The council discussed
ordinance enforcement with property owner at 239 N main Avenue and
Boesenberg moved, Titler seconded
to adjourn the meeting at 8:14 p.m. 4-0.
